Commencement

Congratulations Graduates!

Commencement is when we celebrate your hard work and dedication. We're proud to recognize your achievements with you and your families.

Note: To participate in the commencement ceremony, you must complete the graduation application through myMCC, mark "yes" you will attend commencement, and purchased your cap and gown online by November 1, 2019.

Getting Ready for the Big Day

  • Cap, Gown and Tickets

    Your regalia (cap and gown) will be delivered to MCC. You may pick up your regalia (cap and gown) and guest tickets in the Student Success Center, A247, Monday, December 2, through Friday, December 6, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

    • Last day for regalia pickup is Friday, December 13 by noon.
    • Photo identification is required
    • Unclaimed guest tickets may be given to other graduates

    Graduation Regalia: Caps and gowns are mandatory for the ceremony. Iron your gown on a low setting or hang to reduce wrinkles before the ceremony.

    Tickets: You will receive three tickets for guest seating in the Gym when you pick up your cap and gown (tickets will not be mailed). Please note: In the event that extra tickets become available, we will post a notice on myMCC beginning Monday, December 9. No extra tickets can be given out prior to December 9.

  • Commencement Rehearsal

    Held on Friday, December 13 at noon in the Gym. Dress for rehearsal is casual, you do not need to wear your cap and gown. Pizza will be served!

The Day of the Ceremony

  • Schedule
    • Graduate Check-in: 9 a.m. in Commons area in Building B. Pick up your name card, along with Honor, Veteran, and Volunteer cords (if applicable).
    • Guest Seating: begins at 9 a.m. Tickets are required for guest seating in the Gym during the ceremony. Additional guest seating will be available in the Luecht Auditorium.
    • Ceremony: 10 a.m. The ceremony will last approximately one hour. Graduates and guests are expected to remain through the conclusion as a courtesy to other graduates and guests.
    • Reception: join us in the Commons area following the ceremony.

Professional Photography and Videography: Each graduate is photographed by Empire Photography as they receive their diploma, as well as a solo portrait taken after they exit the stage. Proofs will be sent to graduates and their families within 48 hours of the ceremony.

MCC will digitally record this event and it will be available for viewing via live stream the day of the ceremony at www.mchenry.edu and on YouTube following the ceremony.

Your Diploma: When you cross the stage, you will receive a diploma cover. Be sure to keep it. Your official degree or certificate will be mailed to you eight to twelve weeks from the end of the semester if all graduation requirements have been met.
