Student Athlete of the Month - February 2015
Ryan Skinner - Student Athlete of the Month - February 2015
Congratulations to Ryan Skinner earning the MCC Student-Athlete of the Month honor for February. The McHenry West High School graduate is a sophomore on our Men’s Basketball Team.
Ryan is a 5'10" starting point guard for the Scots. He is averaging 2.3 assists a game, 2.4 rebounds and 1 steal per game. He plays an important role on the team as the point guard with contributions reaching far beyond the stat sheets.
Head Coach David Pettit states, "Coaching Ryan the last two seasons at MCC has not only been a privilege but an honor. He is a gritty defender who battles each and every possession usually against a much taller, athletic player. If there is a loose ball on the court, you can be assured that Ryan is in the middle of the scrum. He gives you that kind of an all out effort on every play. Ryan is a very intelligent basketball player. His knowledge of the plays, his leadership skills, and his decision making have made Ryan an indispensable member of the 2014-2015 MCC Men's Basketball Team.”
As good as Ryan is on the basketball court, he is even better in the classroom. Academically, Ryan has been a member of the Dean's List all three semesters that he has attended MCC. He plans on furthering his education at UIC, majoring in marketing and/or management. Ryan is the true embodiment of the student-athlete.
“Ryan has represented MCC Athletics with a quiet maturity and focus for two years. He has led his team on the floor and has maintained a high level of work and consistency in the classroom. We are proud to have a student-athlete of Ryan’s caliber part of our program and department. Ryan will be successful in his future endeavors and we are so happy we could be part of his development as a MCC student-athlete,” adds Athletic Director Karen Wiley.
