McHenry County College Announces 2020 High-Impact Scholarship Recipients

[Monday, June 15, 2020]

McHenry County College (MCC) recently announced the recipients of three of its high-impact scholarships—the Presidential Talent Scholarship, the Board of Trustees Scholarship, and the Founding Faculty Scholarship.

Four area high school graduates will receive a 60-credit hour scholarship to attend MCC under the Presidential Scholarship program. This prestigious award is given to qualified individuals based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and service. The scholarship also covers the cost of books and any program fees. This year’s recipients are: Chloe Carter of Crystal Lake Central High School; Marco Gonzalez of Woodstock North High School; Joshua Hontanosas of Huntley High School; and Jessica Morin of Johnsburg High School.

The 2020 Board of Trustees Scholarship was given to four high school graduates based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. Recipients of this award receive 60 credit hours of tuition at MCC. This year’s scholarships were awarded to Carly Gritmacker of Alden-Hebron High School; Vanessa Olandese of Woodstock High School; Tyler LoPresti of Johnsburg High School; and Matthew Tepe of Huntley High School.

An additional three students will receive 60 credit hours of tuition at MCC through the Founding Faculty Scholarship. This scholarship, which is available to both high school and current MCC students, is awarded in recognition of retired faculty members David B. Hill, John D. Konitzer, and Erwin Cornelius. This year’s recipients are Joshua Hastings and Rebecca Zwettler of MCC and Aiden Smith of Marengo High School.

Through the generosity of community donors, many other scholarship opportunities are available through the Friends of McHenry County College Foundation, including awards for student athletes, those entering healthcare or nursing, fire science, early childhood education, welding, and more.
