MCC Announces Partnership with Crystal Lake Food Pantry to Provide Assistance to Students in Need[Wednesday, November 20, 2019]
MCC is proud to offer a new, sustainable resource for students facing food insecurity. The college recently partnered with the Crystal Lake Food Pantry (CLFP) to provide assistance to MCC students in need, no matter what school district they live in.
"We're excited to offer our students access to the nutritious food provided by the Crystal Lake Food Pantry," said Rachel Boldman, director of crisis intervention and prevention services at MCC. "By offering them a resource they can rely on, they can better focus on their studies instead of worrying about where their next meal is coming from."
At the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, students can receive fresh meat, eggs, and produce, as well as nonperishable and personal care items.
"Extending these resources to MCC students allows us reach even more members of our community,” said Cate Williams, liaison for MCC's partnership with Crystal Lake Food Pantry. "It's our mission to compassionately distribute food and supplies to families who may be facing hunger."
MCC also offers assistance on campus through donations of nonperishable items and coupons that can be used for free meals at the MCC Café.
Students seeking assistance can visit the Crystal Lake Food Pantry at 42 East Street in Crystal Lake and bring their MCC student ID to get started. On-campus support can be received by visiting the Campus Safety or Advising offices.
