McHenry County College, University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners to Host Annual Garden Walk July 13

[Thursday, June 20, 2019]

Join the University of Illinois Extension McHenry County Gardeners for Garden Walk 2019 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 starting at the Demonstration Garden at McHenry County College, located at 8700 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.

Experience the varied garden cultures of Crystal Lake and Cary at the annual McHenry County Master Gardeners’ Garden Walk presented by University of Illinois Extension and McHenry County College. From Japanese gardens to gardens demonstrating the art of Feng Shui to a formal country garden, all nine gardens are a delight and a must see. Be inspired by these gardens and gardeners. Touring the gardens is on your own. All gardens will have Master Gardeners onsite to answer questions as well as offer educational materials.

The Demonstration Garden at McHenry County College, the Garden Walk’s starting point, includes a vine garden, cool shadowy corners full of shade-loving plants, various theme gardens and extensive displays of perennials and annuals. In addition, quiet hidden benches and nooks provide a place for reflection and contemplation. The Demo Garden is planted and tended by the Extension Master Gardeners.

Advance tickets ($12) may be purchased online at or through MCC by calling (815) 455-8588. All tickets must be picked up the day of the walk, and tickets are also available the day of the walk ($17) at the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at MCC—Parking Lot C.
