Enjoy some toe-tapping music when McHenry County College presents the popular St. Patrick’s Concert featuring Irish music, folk songs and dance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14 in the Luecht Conference Center.
The concert will begin with a round of Irish dances from the McNulty Irish Dancers, followed by music by Pat Gaughan, LJ Slavin and Nancy Maio, who will perform traditional Irish ballads, pub songs and Irish dance tunes. The trio features Gaughan’s rich voice and intricate guitar playing with Slavin’s instrumental virtuosity on many instruments, including the mandolin, flute and Irish pennywhistle. Versatile fiddler Maio has recently added her talents to the combo. Together, Gaughan, Slavin and Maio have a warm stage presence that combined with their musical talents, makes them a memorable musical trio.
The McNulty School of Irish Dance continues the rich tradition of Irish dance in the Midwest, growing to host classes in more than 18 Chicagoland locations.
The concert is free and open to the public. The college is located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake. For more information, call Michael Hillstrom at (815) 479-7814.
