MCC to Offer 911 Emergency Dispatcher Training Course

Train for an exciting career as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher at McHenry County College with a class that takes place from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday from Sept. 5 through Dec. 5 at the MCC Shah Center, located at 4100 W. Shamrock Lane in McHenry.

Instructor is Stephanie Erb, a public service professional with 19 years of experience. She currently works as the assistant accreditation manager and training coordinator for the McHenry Police Department and continues to dispatch part time. This course will prepare participants how to be a first responder in today's fast-paced multijurisdictional dispatching centers as well as prepare to take the National Emergency Communications Certification (NECC) Exam.

According the Bureau of Labor Statics, employment in this field is expected to grow by eight percent through 2026. This course will cover the emergency police, fire, and medical dispatching skills needed to be successful in this growing profession.

Cost is $749. Class times are 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. No class on Oct. 31, Nov. 21 and Nov. 24. Use course code: QHC C21 001 to register.
