President Barack Obama signed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. Congress passed the Act by a wide bipartisan majority; it is the first legislative reform in 15 years of the public workforce system.
McHenry County Workforce Network is the local administrator of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), which serves eligible workers who need assistance with employment and training options. (Eligibility refers to federal grant regulations regarding economic status, barriers to employment and dislocation information.) A Workforce Network eligibility coordinator will contact you.
A Workforce Network career planner will work with you to select the most appropriate training program for you. Your Workforce Network career planner will give you a new customer worksheet. Please contact the WIOA Liaison at MCC, Nancy Bollman, at (815) 455-8598 to make a brief appointment once you have received your new customer worksheet.
Nancy will assist you with the MCC application process (if necessary), and provide information about placement tests, transcript requirements, orientations, and financial aid. She will also direct you to make an appointment with an academic advisor who will complete an education action plan.
After registering for class, schedule an appointment with your MCWN career planner. You will receive a voucher, which needs to be brought to the Registration Office. The voucher is the document which authorizes payment for your classes.
