Frank Gruber, MCC Alumni

Frank Gruber is the founder, CEO and executive editor of Tech Cocktail, an online publishing company focused on entrepreneurs, tech startup news and real-life events in over 30 cities. As an entrepreneur and new-media journalist, Frank co-founded Tech Cocktail in 2006, which has grown into a hub for the creative class, offering tech startup focused news, events and resources. Previously, Frank built and launched products for the masses while at AOL, Tribune and Classified Ventures along with startup efforts like Thankfulfor, Splog Reporter and more. As a journalist, his works have been featured in a number of top media publications, including TechCrunch, Fortune, ReadWrite and HuffPo. He was named by Forbes as one of the most connected people in tech. Frank is also a venture partner with Crystal Tech Fund.

Frank, who used to go by the nickname F.J., attended McHenry County College in 1997 and was a member of the men’s baseball team where he played center field. His alma maters also include Purdue University and Northwestern University. While living the startup life, he also enjoys swimming, strumming his guitar and ukulele, warm weather, beaches and sports – especially coming back home to Chicago to see his beloved Chicago Cubs play.

Frank currently splits time between Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. but travels a lot as he circles the globe
speaking, hosting events and helping entrepreneurs enjoy the startup life journey by providing resources, connections and community.
