Find the Right Volunteer Opportunity
- Search by date for volunteer opportunities listed on the volunteer calendar
- See volunteer work posted on the bulletin board across from the Service Learning and Volunteerism Office A250
- Search for volunteer opportunities - visit the United Way of Greater McHenry County Volunteer Center’s website to search for available opportunities in your area of interest ⇒
- Register as an individual volunteer.
- Search for volunteer activities.
- Submit I am interested in helping forms.
- The agency you are interested in helping will contact you within two weeks if volunteers are needed.
- Get involved on campus - there are student organizations on campus that are already doing volunteer work! Learn more about student organizations ⇒
Ensure Your Opportunity is Approved
All volunteer work must fall within the guidelines of the MCC Presidential Talent Scholarship program to count towards your requirements. If you are not sure, please contact Emily Smith or ANGEL
- Log into ANGEL
- Enter the MCC Presidential Talent Scholarship course
- Click on Forms
- Choose Volunteer Activity Approval Request Form
- Complete form and hit submit
Your submission will be reviewed and you will receive a message approving or denying the work.
Track Completed Volunteer Hours
You are responsible for submitting your hours after each activity using the Completed Volunteer Hours Submission Form on ANGEL.
- Log into ANGEL
- Enter the MCC Presidential Talent Scholarship course
- Click on Forms
- Choose Report Completed Volunteer Hours
- Complete the form and hit submit
Know Your Responsibilities as a Volunteer
- You are required to participate in a reflection assignment each semester due one week prior to finals week. Fall 2011 date is December 9.
- You must meet with the Coordinator of Service Learning and Volunteerism at the beginning of each semester.
- You are required to engage in responsible social conduct that reflects credit upon the MCC Community and to model good citizenship in any community.
- Submitting false information regarding completed volunteer hours is a violation of the Student Code of Conduct and may result in students becoming ineligible for the MCC Presidential Talent Scholarship Scholarship in future semesters.
- MCC students are expected to demonstrate qualities of morality, integrity, honesty, civility, honor and respect. MCC may initiate disciplinary action and impose sanctions against any student or student organization found responsible for committing, attempting to commit, or intentionally assisting in the commission of any of the prohibited forms of conduct listed in the Student Code of Conduct.
