Anthropology ANT170 Cultural Anthropology Cameron Various Students are encouraged to use service work with a nonprofit or government agency as research for their final project.
Biology BIO130 Environmental Field Biology Kuhlman McHenry County Conservation District or Illinois Nature Preserve A portion of your grade will be earned for the required completion of 10 hours of volunteer work geared to environmental awareness, conservation, or restoration at selected local sites.  Contacts for supervisors of approved activities will be provided.  Students must arrange their own volunteer work and obtain and submit written documentation of the completed hours.
Business BUS150 Intro to Business Wagner Various Students are required to explore volunteer opportunities with a nonprofit or government agency within their chosen career path to further their knowledge of potential career paths.
Early Childhood Education EDU253 Children with Exceptionalities Linder NISRA, FINDS, MCC Buddies, Gigis In lieu of the final exam, students can opt to commit to volunteering with a nonprofit agency which provides experience working with children with exceptionalities.
English ENG151 Composition I Midday Various Students will volunteer with nonprofit and government agencies of their choice to further explore career options and as research for writing assignments.

Students will volunteer with a nonprofit agency to research how an agency addresses a social problem within the community. Student will reflect upon the experience with a written assignment.
Health HFE152 Women's Health Whalen Home of the Sparrow Students are encouraged to volunteer 10 – 12 hours with Home of the Sparrow during the course of the semester.
History HIS170 US History I Allare McHenry County Historical Society
Crystal Lake Historical Society
Students have the option to volunteer at four different events throughout the course of the semester in lieu of a typical written assignment.
History HIS172 US History II Allare Hearthstone Senior Living
McHenry County Historical Society
Students will interview residents on their take of the history of McHenry County, write about what they learn and provide a book of what was documented to share with residents and historical society.
Leadership LAS250 Leadership Development Koronkiewicz Various Students will volunteer with nonprofit and government agencies of their choice to further explore career options and develop leadership skills.
Math MAT202 Foundation for Elementary Education II Robison Hannah Beardsley Middle School Students volunteer their time with established programs at the middle school: an after school program, learning disability support classes, and a homework support for at-risk students. Students must commit to helping at least one hour a week during the course of the semester and keep a reflection journal to talk about their experiences and relate it back to the course. This service learning opportunity is an alternative option offered in place of a few other required assignments the course.
Psychology PSY151 Intro to Psychology Bossert NISRA, Animal House in Huntley, Girl Scouts, Home of the Sparrow, PADS, after-school programs, Americorps, National Alliance for Mental Illness, nursing homes, and a variety of youth sports teams, youth choirs, etc. Students have two service learning options, a brief four hours of volunteer work with a nonprofit agency to explore different services related to child psychology OR a 10 hour commitment over the course of the semester including a journal and a written paper connecting experiences to psychology.

Sociology SOC101 Marriage & Family Venkataswamy Various Students can volunteer with a nonprofit or government agency for a minimum of 4 hours to receive extra credit. The student is required to complete a survey to reflect upon the experience and how it relates to the curriculum. The goals for the service learning project include learning sociology, self efficacy, and understanding the needs of our community.
