Summer Break will feature recent work from students including painting, drawing, photography, ceramics and jewelry. Throughout the academic year art students have been learning new skills, working through ideas, and developing their work. Summer Break celebrates the progress MCC art students have made. Summer is a time when students and faculty alike focus on art making and prepare to come back to the fast-paced studio environment where creativity and critique develop and stretch artists.
BREAKER, BREAKER – organized by Matt Irie
March 16 to April 20
Opening reception: March 16 (5-7 p.m.)
BREAKER, BREAKER is the CB (Citizens Band) slang that announces one's intention to "break" into a conversation or "break" the silence. MCC painting students Haley Creager, Kendall Johnson, Dominique Sanders, Gloria Stewart, and Mary Swenson, all, in their own way, are attempting to break into the conversation of contemporary painting. BREAKER, BREAKER represents a small survey of these artists' recent efforts.
January 26 to March 3
Flares features a beautiful sampling of some of MCC instructor Mark Arctander's best advanced painting students currently studying in MCC's Art Department including Skylar Buetow and Michelle Clesceri of Crystal Lake, Cristina Lichay of Huntley, Kayti Sault of Woodstock, Michelle Mathis of McHenry, and Kathleen Jagman of Woodstock.
This Must Be The Place
The show featured recent photographic work from MCC student artists surrounding the theme of home. Artists Madeline Cox, Marissa Flores, Tia Ganter, Morgaine Polit, Katelyn Rowlett, Nicole Wailly, and Laurie Wittman exhibited work that challenges and confronts the dynamics within domestic space.
