Flagger Training Course

Did you know that 722 people were killed, and 36,457 were injured in work zones in 1998? This four-hour course is a must for novice and experienced construction work zone flaggers. Here is what your work zone crew will get: • Thorough understanding of flagging procedures and proper use of required equipment. • Improved flagging skills from hands-on training, classroom activities and a flagging skills test. • Enhanced ability to coordinate traffic movement through the work zone. • A Pocket Reference Card that graphically depicts the proper use of a stop/slow paddle and flag. The primary objectives of the program are to train flaggers to provide safe passage of traffic through and around work areas and to minimize confusion by bringing standard flagging procedures to our nation’s highways. Controlling traffic through work areas is one of the most important — and dangerous — operations in construction maintenance. The National Safety Council’s Flagger Training Course is a comprehensive skill-building program that meets federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices guidelines for controlling traffic through construction work areas. Certification enforcement has become priority to OSHA and IDOT in recent months! To register call (815) 455-8588, or to register a group of your employees call (815) 479-7591.
