“Portrait of a Young Child,” a ceramic piece by MCC student Jean Sekera of Fox River Grove, is included in the McHenry County College art exhibition, First Response, through Aug. 16 in the Satellite Gallery, located in the Old Courthouse Arts Center in Woodstock. An opening reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. July 26.

The McHenry County College art exhibition, First Response, is featured at the Satellite Gallery, located in the Old Courthouse Arts Center, 101 N. Johnson Street Woodstock, through Aug. 16. The opening reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 26.

First Response will feature recent artwork from MCC student-artists and local professional artists. The show is curated by McHenry County College art history faculty members Amy Ortiz and Sarah Ruthven. The show offers compelling art work and written material adding context and insight for viewers.

“Art is a conversation between artists and viewer; this show offers an opportunity to join that conversation,” Ruthven said.

This show is part of an ongoing series in the Satellite Gallery at the Old Woodstock Courthouse, in partnership with The Northwest Area Arts Council.

The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Matt Irie, MCC art department chairperson, at (815) 455-8552 or send him an email at: mirie@mchenry.edu.
