MCC Announces Three Scholarship Opportunities for Fall Semester

McHenry County College announces three separate scholarship opportunities for the 2018-2019 academic year, including the Board of Trustees Scholarship and the Presidential Talent Scholarship for graduating high school seniors and the Founding Faculty Scholarship for students of any age. A total of 11 recipients will be awarded. Deadline to apply is March 2.

The following scholarships are accepting applications:

Board of Trustees Scholarship: Awarded to qualified individuals based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. Eligible candidates must be a McHenry County College in-district high school graduate from December 2017 to June 2018. Recipients of the Board of Trustees Scholarship will receive 60 (in-district) credit hours of tuition at McHenry County College, not including books and fees. Recipients are required to enroll in a least 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring) at MCC, earned a minimum of a 3.0 high school GPA, as well as complete other requirements as listed on the application. A total of three Board of Trustee Scholarships will be awarded.

MCC Presidential Talent Scholarship: McHenry County College, along with the Friends of MCC Foundation, will award the prestigious Presidential Talent Scholarship to qualified individuals based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and service. Recipients of the Presidential Talent Scholarship will receive 60 (in-district) credit hours of tuition, fees, and books at McHenry County College. Recipients must have earned a minimum of a 3.60 high school GPA and are required to enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring) at MCC, and commit to represent MCC each semester (fall and spring) as well as complete other requirements listed on the application. A total of five Presidential Talent Scholarships will be awarded.      

McHenry County College Founding Faculty Scholarship: Awarded in recognition of the 30 years of contributions to MCC from retired founding faculty of McHenry County College. Three scholarships worth 60 tuition credit hours each at MCC will be awarded in recognition of retired faculty members David B. Hill, John D. Konitzer, and Erwin Cornelius. Recipients of the Founding Faculty Scholarship will receive 60 (in-district) credit hours of tuition at MCC, not including fees and books. Recipients are required to enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring) at MCC, earned a minimum of a 2.50 high school or MCC GPA, as well as complete other requirements as listed on the application. A total of three Founding Faculty Scholarships will be awarded. Students of all ages are welcome to apply.

Scholarship applications are available in the MCC Financial Aid Office, at high school guidance counselors offices or watch for the applications to be available soon at www.mchenry.edu/financialaid/scholarships.asp. The applications are due March 2 and may be mailed or dropped off in person to the MCC Financial Aid Office, Room A262, 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake, 60012.
