MCC to Host Two-Day Pottery Workshop Sept. 29 and 30[Friday, September 22, 2017]
A pitcher and two cups are examples of work by Annie Chrietzburg, who will discuss her process at a hands-on pottery workshop on Sept. 29 and 30 at MCC.
A two-day hands-on pottery workshop titled "Stylish Slabs and Surface," will take place at McHenry County College from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 and 30 in the ceramics studio, Room A145.
The pottery workshop will explore surface, form and ideas with guest artist Annie Chrietzberg, a hand-builder, template-maker and glaze formulator. She took her first ceramics class in 1991 and went on to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in ceramics. In addition to making and selling her work, she has written more than 20 articles for Pottery Making Illustrated and has taught workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada. She recently relocated to the forests of Central Oregon.
She will show her workshop participants how she turns plain slabs of clay into dynamic colorful pieces for the tabletop and countertop. Her process includes imprinting a pattern on the clay using her own templates. Her current body of work is a line of mix-and-match tableware composed in pattern and color. The event is co-sponsored by the Clayworkers’ Guild of Illinois and the MCC Clay Club.
Cost is $45 for both days and includes lunch. To reserve a seat, register with MCC ceramics instructor Tom Vician at email@example.com. Participants may pay by cash or check, payable to McHenry County College.
