MCC to Offer Pharmacy Technician Training[Thursday, July 6, 2017]
McHenry County College is offering Professional Pharmacy Technician Training from 6-9 p.m. on Monday and Thursday, from Aug. 14 through Nov. 20 in Room A241. The college is located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.
Pharmacy technicians are an integral and critical member of the health-care team. They work with pharmacists in drug preparation, distribution, and management in a variety of health-care settings. Duties include drug and sterile product preparation, counting, pouring, labeling pharmaceutical products for distribution, data entry, inventory control and management, and customer service.
After successfully completing this 80-hour program, participants will be prepared to sit for one of the State of Illinois approved Pharmacy Technician certification exams. Illinois now requires all individuals who work as pharmacy technicians to become nationally certified. Prerequisites include Intermediate Algebra (MAT 099) with a grade of C or higher or an appropriate score on the mathematics placement test and basic computer skills.
The fee for this course is $1,299 and includes books, materials and the cost of the initial certification exam.
