Looking for something new and fun to do this summer? The Retired Adult Program (RAP) is a membership-based, educational non-credit program designed specifically for adults who are 50 and better. Join today and enroll in these summer classes:
What Archaeologists Really Do: Get the inside story of what professional archaeologists really do (and don’t do) both in the field and in the laboratory. Steve Katz will discuss specific methodologies as related to cultural resource management. He will share information about how archaeological sites are found and material is recorded, collected, and processed. Class takes place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, in Room A102. Cost is $12. Use course code NRA C35 001 when registering.
Circle of Time: Elgin Watch Factory: Elgin historian Bill Briska highlights the rise and fall of the Elgin Watch Factory, America’s leading manufacturer of fine jeweled watches. He will discuss the success of the American watch industry and ultimate decline. Collectors are invited to bring some of their favorite examples of Elgin watches for informal sharing after the lecture. Class takes place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21 in Room C106. Cost is $12.
