MCC Business Class to Feature Non-Profit Organizations Overview[Wednesday, June 7, 2017]
Learn about how non-profit organizations impact the community, recruit volunteers and conduct fundraising campaigns with a 12-week online class, Introduction to Non-Profit Organizations (BUS 299), offered by the McHenry County College Business Department. The class takes place from Sept. 5 through Nov. 21.
The nonprofit industry offers unique opportunities for individuals who are willing to work hard to make the world a better place. For those entering the work force or embarking on a new career, nonprofits provide excellent avenues to “get your foot in the door.”
Ongoing creativity is one of the most exciting aspects of working in many companies, but it’s especially true for nonprofits, whose staff always looks for new ways to fulfill their mission quicker, cheaper, and better and reach people in new, innovative ways.
In this class, students will learn how to assist with the legal formation of a nonprofit organization, nonprofit financial management and governance, community impact of nonprofit organizations, evaluating program and HR effectiveness and how to create, implement and supervise a fundraising campaign.
For students seeking an associate degree, this class may be taken as an elective for Business, Marketing or Management programs.
