Bioneers Speaker Series Concludes Feb. 28[Monday, February 27, 2017]
McHenry County College continues the 2017 Great Lakes Bioneers Speaker Series featuring “Building the Social Justice Narrative
on our Environmental Crises” 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in the college's Luecht Conference Center in Building B.
Three main pillars of sustainability are economic, environmental and social justice. Shalini Gupta, founder and executive director of the Center for Earth, Energy and Democracy (CEED), will highlight the social justice pillar--one that is not often talked about.
Gupta's work is focused on forging solutions to our environmental crises that are grounded in economic and social history. She has worked with a range of organizations from local grassroots groups to international organizations engaging in the promotion of sound environmental policy and environmental justice and sustainable policies at the community level and across the country.
Selected area organizations will be available, along with the speakers, for further discussion after the presentation.
The speaker series is sponsored by the McHenry County College Sustainability Center and the Bioneers Steering Committee.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the MCC Sustainability Center at (815) 479-7765 or visit www.mchenry.edu/bioneers.
