Accounting for the Non-Accountant Class[Friday, February 10, 2017]
McHenry County College's Workforce, Community and Business Programs is accepting registrations for the Accounting Basics for the Non-Accountant class. The class takes place from 2-4:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 16 through March 9 at the MC Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane in McHenry.
A common handicap of many small businesses is the limited lack of core accounting knowledge by the owner and employees. Financial skills are also fundamental to any managerial position in any organization. You don’t need to be an accountant, but to succeed it’s essential to know accounting basics.
Using the popular book “The Accounting Game” by Mullis & Orloff, participants learn the basic skills of accounting and financial concepts in a fun and creative way. Topics will include income, expenses, cost of goods sold, depreciation, inventory valuation, and differences between cash and accrual methods of accounting. They will also learn about the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows and how they relate to each other and business financial reporting. This course is designed for the non-accountant who needs to understand and be confident with accounting and financial reporting concepts.
Cost is $295. Register by calling (815) 455-8588 and referencing course code: NTE S80 003.
