McHenry County College to Offer Home Inspection Pre-Licensing Course[Thursday, February 2, 2017]
McHenry County College's (MCC) Home Inspection Pre-licensing course is intended for people who have knowledge in the building trades industry and are interested in a home inspection career. The course takes place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights from Feb. 21 to May 11 in Room E121 at MCC.
Approved by the Office of Banks and Real Estate, this 60-hour course covers the major elements of home inspection and includes the five mandatory inspections required to sit for the Illinois State Exam. The inspections begin as early at 5 p.m. and are located at various offsite locations in McHenry and Lake Counties. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the inspection event sites. Also, those who have had a felony conviction will need to contact the Office of Banks and Real Estate at (217) 785-0800 to confirm eligibility to sit for the exam.
For those who have experience in the building trades, such as home handymen, remodelers, contractors, firefighters and anyone in the trades, this career is one way to earn extra income, with a full or part time job, or by starting their own business. Areas from exteriors to electric to heating and many other topics will be discussed. Other aspects of the home inspection business, including marketing and business start-up, are also covered. Many home inspectors use computer software and digital cameras to generate their reports, so some computer skills may be helpful but are not required.
Books and materials are included in the $895 course fee. For more information contact Ruth Kormanak at (815) 479-7879 or email@example.com. To enroll, contact the MCC Registration Office at (815) 455-8588, or register online at: www.mchenry.edu/proed and use the course code: URE U04-003.
