Accountant, Tax Preparer, Financial Planner Workshop Set May 13

McHenry County College announces is now recognized an approved IRS Continuing Education Provider and will offer a variety of seminars and speakers on topics of interest to accountants, tax preparers and financial planners. Topics include Affordable Care Act-Summary Provisions, IRS Collection Alternatives, Federal and State Income Tax Law Changes, and a round table discussion on Preparing for an Organized Tax Season.

The first presentation will feature the Affordable Care Act-Summary Provisions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 in Room A103. The series will continue on various Tuesdays in September through December.

This leading Affordable Care Act – Summary Provisions seminar is designed to update tax preparers on the Federal Affordable Care Act and will include information on tax credits, cost-sharing subsidies, health coverage excise tax, and penalties that may affect U.S. citizens for tax years ending after December 31, 2013.  Part of this workshop will be to examine calculations of health insurance credit for small employers, calculating FTE’s and dependent health benefits for adult children. It will also cover explore the health care-related revenue raiser including, but not limited to Reporting of Health Insurance Coverage on Form W-2, Threshold to Itemize Medical Expenses, and Additional Hospital Tax for High Wage Workers. 

The speaker will be Bryan J. Esarco, an experienced Certified Public Accountant practicing in Illinois and Wisconsin. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and has earned a Master of Science in Taxation.  His taxation responsibilities include the preparation of Corporate, Partnership, LLC, Estate/Trust and Individual tax returns, and representing clients involved in offers and settlements, along with providing them audit support. By using tax planning, research and consultation he has been able to save clients large amounts of what would have been tax dollars. Currently, he is the manager of a local accounting firm, AJE Associates, PC and is an adjunct instructor at MCC.
