McHenry County College is offering free math refresher seminars this spring and summer for incoming or current MCC students.
The purpose of the seminars are to review concepts from Elementary (Algebra I) and Intermediate (Algebra II) for students who either want to prepare for the COMPASS placement exam or review concepts before taking a subsequent course.
The Elementary (Algebra I) upcoming review sessions are: from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays May 15, May 22, and June 5 in Room A242 and from 5 to 9 p.m. June 12, June 26 and July 31 in Room A342.
The Intermediate (Algebra II) review sessions are: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 in Room A242, 1-5 p.m. May 27, June 17 in Room A242; 5-9 p.m. July 10 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 2 in Room A342.
"Students can save time and money by taking these review sessions to keep their math skills current and to avoid taking developmental math classes in college," said Bob Reass, math specialist at MCC. "Most students attending one of these sessions scored higher on their COMPASS placement test score. Some were able to place two levels higher," Reass said.
Registration is not required. Participants may sign in upon arrival. For the math refresher course schedule, visit www.mchenry.edu/mathreview.
