Celebrate Polish culture with a trip to Chicago see and learn about the many beautiful treasures of the Polish heritage, including a Polish lunch buffet, on April 15 with McHenry County College’s Trips and Tours program. Trip takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The trip will feature a visit to the Polish Museum of America, one of the largest and oldest ethnic museums in the United States. With more than one million people, Chicago has the largest Polish community outside of Warsaw. Exhibits include Polonia stained glass, folk costumes, remarkably decorated eggs, paintings and sculptures. The museum shop sells a wide variety of Polish arts and crafts.
A delicious, hearty lunch buffet is included and features traditional Polish specialties served at the Red Apple, a restaurant where many patrons speak Polish. Another highlight of the trip is St. Hyacinth's, a beautiful basilica where Polish immigrants attend Mass, which is still celebrated in Polish. Last stop is a Polish bakery with an opportunity to stock up on delicious baked goods before heading home. Cost is $99. Refer to trip ID: NST S45 004 when registering.
