[Tuesday, February 04, 2014]

McHenry County College is offering two separate scholarships worth 60 credit hours that will be awarded to several students beginning in the 2014-2015 school year. The scholarships include the Presidential Talent Scholarship and the Founding Faculty scholarship. The Presidential Talent Scholarship, MCC's most prestigious scholarship, is awarded each year to qualified individuals based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community involvement.

Recipients of the Presidential Talent Scholarship tuition waiver will receive 60 (in district) credit hours of tuition only at McHenry County College. Recipients are required to enroll in at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester, maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA), and complete a minimum of 15 service hours for each fall and spring semester. MCC will award Presidential Talent Scholarships to a total of eight students.

The McHenry County College Founding Faculty Scholarship is awarded in recognition of more than 30 years' worth of contributions from founding faculty of McHenry County College.

Three scholarships worth 60 tuition credit hours each at MCC will be awarded in recognition of retired faculty members David B. Hill, John D. Konitzer, and Erwin Cornelius. Recipients must be residents of McHenry County College District 528. Recipients are also required to enroll in at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester and maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA at MCC. Students of all ages are welcome to apply.

Both scholarships do not cover fees or books. Applicants must submit an application and all requested materials by Friday, February 14.
