  1. How can I apply to the LPN to RN Bridge program?

You must have an MCC student I.D. number to apply to the nursing program and for preadmission testing. If you have never attended MCC as a credit student, submit an MCC New Student Enrollment Form and $15 fee online or at the Registration Office (A258).

Complete and submit the LPN to RN Bridge Program Application PDF. This application is also available in faculty office E212. Applications must be submitted to the Nursing Department (E212) by 4:30 p.m. on May 1, 2012.

You must submit proof of the following information to the Department Chair

    • Valid Illinois practical nurse license
    • A current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
    • The Student Health Record requirements, including drug screening, using the program-approved form(s).
    • The program-approved criminal background check.
  2. How will I find out if I am accepted into the LPN to RN Bridge program?

You will be notified by mail of acceptance into the LPN to RN Bridge program. You must complete and return an acceptance agreement within two weeks of receiving notification. Letters will be sent to all applicants by the June 15.

If you are not accepted into the program, you must reapply for the following year. We will not maintain a waiting list.

  3. Will there be a preadmission exam?

The preadmission test is the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEASŪ test). The TEAS was developed to measure basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. No other nursing preadmission exam scores will be considered. Learn more about the Preadmission Testing Guidelines.

  4. What courses are required?

See the LPN to RN Bridge program curriculum PDF. Note: there is no 5-year limit on BIO255/263/264 for this program.

  5. Is "being on the healthcare worker registry" required for LPNs?

The CNA course NAE 100 or "being on the healthcare worker registry" is not required for LPNs. We DO require proof of licensure and an official transcript from the institution awarding the practical nurse degree.

  6. Are there any scholarships available?

There are several scholarships available to nursing students only. You can learn more about scholarships online or by visiting the Financial Aid office in A258.

  7. How will I be able to find out more about the program?

It is highly recommended that individuals meet with a recruiter (for individuals new to MCC) or with an advisor (for continuing MCC students.) See the Advising and Transfer Center.
