My name is Jim Stockwell and I am a member of the Journalism department here at McHenry County College.

Journalism in its simplest form is the sharing of information and how that is done is what makes the study of journalism so exciting.

Whether you are interested in Television, Radio, Film, writing, or on-line media, each of these areas are connected to Journalism.

MCC offers foundation classes in Broadcasting and Mass Media, News writing, and Film Appreciation.

But Journalism touches other departments at our college too.

Want to learn more about radio and podcasts? Join our Broadcasting club. How about making movies? Check out our remarkable Film Production Club. On-line media sound fascinating? We have an outstanding Digital Media Department with a variety of class options and degrees. Interesting in writing? McHenry County College has its very own Student-run newspaper, The Tartan. If live performance is more up your alley, our exceptional theatre department produces plays and other shows from our on campus and intimate Black Box Theatre. As for public speaking, MCC also sports an award winning and nationally recognized forensics team.

As you can see, the world of Journalism holds unlimited possibilities. So, check out our course schedule and begin exploring the rewarding field of Journalism here at McHenry County College.
