The test will take about 5 minutes and you'll be compensated $5. Testing will take place on Monday, March 30 in the Employee Dining Room. You need to sign up in advance to take part in the testing so that Seaquist knows we have enough participants to fulfill their needs. There is a sign-up sheet on the door to the Switchboard - please sign up in person for ONE of the two tests being offered that day. Please DO NOT call the switchboard and ask any questions or ask to be put on the list - they are only the centrally located sign-up location and do not have any additional information. We don't know what type of product testing will be taking place, however in the past it has usually been spray bottles, aerosol cans, or items of that nature. And hopefully, more of you will want to do something interactive as well. Please take just a few minutes to fill out the attached form. MCC Night typically attracts 600-800 potential students (probably more this year due to the MCC Promise), so it’s a great opportunity to promote your program. I look forward to hearing from you – just fill out the attached form and email it back to me as soon as possible. Thank you for supporting MCC Night!

New Shredding Bins on CampusSubmitted By szingron@mchenry.edu 3/24/2009 4:11:24 PM Phone: 815-455-8767 (This should be read like the Star Trek 1960’s TV show opener) Shredding Bins... the Final Frontier for Confidential Documents. These are the receptacles for student documents of the starship MCC. Its forever-year mission: to prevent student identifiers from going out into strange new worlds; to seek out all documents with student identifiers, and to boldly secure them as no document has been secured before. Exactly what am I putting in these bins? Excellent question! In the secure shred bins you can place CLASS LISTS, GRADE BOOKS, TESTS, AND GREEN-BAR SHEETS, OR ANYTHING THAT CONTAINS ANY STUDENT IDENTIFIERS. The items in these bins will be shredded to protect student information and ensure that we are following FERPA guidelines. Could you elaborate as to what a student identifier is? I could and I will. A STUDENT IDENTIFIER IS THE STUDENT’S NAME ASSOCIATED WITH AN ID NUMBER, A GRADE, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, A PARTICULAR CLASS, A PHONE NUMBER, OR ADDRESS. And these bins would be located where? Another excellent question! (I like this group!) The new bins will be in Faculty Offices, Human Resources, Special Needs, etc. To obtain a complete list of where the bins are and to locate the one nearest you, go to: www.insidemcc.mchenry.edu scroll to: ‘Facilities and Contact Information/About the Campus’ Click on: ‘Location of Shredding Bins on Campus’ So, no documents in wastebaskets or open recycle bins! Green Recycling Bins in Classrooms - CleaningSubmitted By acarzoli@mchenry.edu 3/5/2009 11:53:37 AM Phone: Hi everyone - this is a reminder that classroom recycling is managed by students from SEDOM who are here throughout the semester. They are responsible for emptying and cleaning the recycling bins in the classrooms around campus, but do so during the day, when many classrooms are in use. If the recycling bins in your classroom need emptied or cleaned, please put them in the hallway by your door and they will be taken care of as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation! MCC Algonquin/LITH Chamber Representative, Sandra Hess Moll :-) Shop and Share at JewelSubmitted By mmatthei@mchenry.edu 3/31/2009 12:36:34 PM Phone: x8572 Do you shop at Jewel? Would you consider printing out the attached form to submit to the cashier when you shop on April 6-8 (next week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday?) My favorite brother, Paul, and my sister-in-law, Linda, and their family attend the Woodstock Bible Church in Woodstock and they are hoping to raise funds for their BREAD ministry. Please see my brother's message below. Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you so much. Mary I'm certain most of you are familiar with "Shop and Share" through your schools and community groups. You simply shop at a Jewel Food store and as you check out, hand the clerk an identification slip. The clerk fills in the amount of your purchase and the designated group receives a portion of the sale, at no greater cost to you. You may visit ANY Jewel Osco when you shop. April 6-8 have been designated as Shop and Share days to benefit the food pantry at our church. Our group number is 02210473 and our group is "WOODSTOCK BIBLE CHURCH - FOOD PANTRY" For several years now, our BREAD ministry has served a free hot meal every Sunday to more than 80 families in the area, some families traveling more than an hour to share lunch and receive several bags of free groceries from our food pantry..every week. We partner with the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Deliveries arrive each week and are unloaded by Ministry volunteers. Food is prepared and served by church volunteers, as well, at no cost, obligation, or question to our guests. If you shop at Jewel and feel led to help, please print out the attached slip. Thank you in advance for helping us feed these families... just 1 dollar provides about 40 lbs of food from the food bank. Thanks again. Paul and Linda (Mary's brother and sister-in-law) PS. If you cannot or do not wish to participate, pray support is always appreciated for this important ministry. Thanks again for considering it. STAR 105 Radio Wants Traffic WatchersSubmitted By dbieschk@mchenry.edu 3/19/2009 6:53:26 PM Phone: x8728 Radio station STAR 105.5 does traffic reports inhouse now and they are looking for people to call the station using their cell phones while driving in the morning or afternoon. They are looking for one brief phone call during the five-day work week, between 6-8 a.m., telling about road conditions or accidents. They even want to hear if the roads are in good shape. For example, a caller may say, "I'm driving on Route 47 in Huntley and traffic is jammed in both directions from the Del Webb entrance to Main Street..."or something like that. They learn about road problems through what they call TRAFFIC WATCHERS OR Y TRAFFIC EYES (their sister station is Y103.7FM). So, if you want to report road conditions, call the producer at (815)356-6397. |
