Habitat & Flight Period: Open woods, meadows, prairies, old fields / Late May - October

 

Comment: Notice the two large eyespots on the underside of the forewing - dark blue surrounded by a yellow ring. Wood Nymphs have a low and lumbering flight pattern. Their caterpillars feed on grasses.
