Kyle McCall was recommended by former MCC Head Coach Jyllianne Czanstkowksi, to become the Scots' Assistant Coach. When the 2013 head coaching position opened up, McCall was elevated to that role. He has coached/directed volleyball at a variety of levels, youth through collegiate and adult. McCall has attended a number of university summer camps to hone his coaching skills and increase his coaching connections, knowledge and abilities. Some of those universities included: The University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin, Northern Illinois University, and Ohio State University.
McCall started his volleyball career playing sand volleyball and has over 12 years playing at a competitive level. He most recently celebrated a silver medal in the 2013 OPEN division and a win in the 2012 OPEN division of Adult U.S.A Volleyball. In the sand game, McCall has won many tournaments, and he has a very strong network of players and coaches that play all levels of the sport.
McCall has coached players who have gone on to play at NCAA Division I schools in The Big 10, MAC and Pac 10 conferences. McCall believes that promoting a positive, dedicated, and consistent approach helps produce the best results. Some of his former players have gone on to play professionally outside of the U.S.
McCall is an excellent teacher in practice and provides sound game strategy. He believes that his athletes benefit from a realistic and common-sense approach to the game. He believes that when the athlete understands how and why things work, they are able to perform better with a steady level of improvement. In addition to physical training and skill development, McCall emphasizes mental training and competitive toughness. Combining talent, discipline and consistency, McCall has achieved excellent results and sets high expectations for his MCC student athletes both in the classroom and on the court.
