Student-Athlete of the Month - November 2016
Congratulations to Grace Schwegel for earning the MCC Student-Athlete of the Month honor for November. The Richmond-Burton High School graduate is a sophomore on our women’s basketball team and our softball team.
Grace is a 5'11 center/forward for the 16-17 Scots this past winter. She had a game high 10 points and 11 rebounds versus a tough JJC team this past month. "Grace is an important part of our team’s success. She is one of the most coachable players I have had in a long time. I can see constant improvement in her as the season has progressed," lauds Head Coach Karen Wiley.
This spring Grace will again take to the softball field as well. She is a center fielder and will also pitch for the Scots. Last season she batted .426 and led the team in home runs with four and second on the team in RBI’s. Despite participating on two MCC teams, Grace manages her time well enough to carry a 4.0 GPA.
"Grace is an awesome example of the quality student-athletes we have part of our department. She has worked tirelessly to juggle both athletics and academics with quality and excellence. I am proud of her in so many different ways. She carries herself with class and maturity, representing MCC in all areas," adds Director of Athletics Karen Wiley.
