Student-Athlete of the Month - January 2016
Congratulations to Eric Grens earning the MCC Student-Athlete of the Month honor for January. The Elgin High School graduate is a returning sophomore on our men’s basketball team.
Eric is a 6’10 center for the 13-8 Scots. The team is currently leading the Skyway Conference at a 6-1 pace and ranked #1 in Region IV. As a starter for the team, Eric averages 3 blocks, 8 rebounds and 4 points per game.
Head Coach Dave Petitt lauds, “It has been a pleasure to coach Eric the past two years. He has been an anchor on the defensive end and has recently shown the ability to raise his offensive game to a new level. His work ethic in practice has led to this development. Eric’s leadership and decision-making skills have made him an indispensable member of the 2015-16 Men’s Basketball squad.”
“I have enjoyed watching Eric grow as a player and young man through the past two years. He has maintained a quality GPA while participating on our men's basketball team. He has learned to remain focused, set goals and prepare for the future. We are proud of the development Eric has experiences as a student-athlete at MCC,” adds Director of Athletics, Karen Wiley.
