Leon Palatas, Head Coach

 

Coach Palatas is entering his ninth season as MCC’s head softball coach and his 11th season overall in the program. In his previous eight years, he guided his team to a solid 207-131 record. During his tenure as head coach, he has seen his Lady Scots win the Skyway Conference regular season championship in 2001, 2003 and 2004. He was voted the Skyway Conference Softball Coach of the Year and the Skyway Coach of the Year for all women’s sports in 2003, a season that saw his team set a school record of 22 straight wins, finish 35-10 overall and play for the NJCAA Region IV Championship. Coach Palatas was the MCC Assistant Coach for two years before taking over the head coaching position.

Prior to coaching at MCC, Palatas coached for 10 years in the Woodstock Girls Summer League and served as the senior league representative of the league for three years. Palatas earned his bachelor’s degree in general studies with a double minor in management and education from Columbia College, Missouri. Palatas and his wife Jane have two daughters, and they live in Woodstock, IL.
