Did you know that…
- Before you can register for a credit class at MCC, you need
to submit your completed MCC
Application for Admission to
the Registration office and pay the required $15.00 application
fee
- You need to wait two (2) business days for your application
to be processed before registering for classes
- You may not qualify for in-district tuition at MCC even
though you reside in McHenry County
- College District
#528 includes small parts of Boone,
Kane, and Lake Counties and excludes small parts of
McHenry County
- You can verify your residency by calling Admissions
at (815) 455-8530 or Registration at (815) 455-8588
Placement Tests
Did you know that…
- You need to submit your completed MCC Application for Admission
form to the Registration office, pay the required $15.00
application
fee and allow 2 business days for your student I.D. to be
assigned before you can take a placement test at MCC
- If you want to take a math, English or reading
course at MCC, you must take a placement test in the Testing
Center
- Because you scored a 21 or better on the English portion
of the ACT,
you don't have to take the writing placement test in the
Testing Center and can sign up for ENG 151
- Because you scored a 25 or better on the Math portion of the ACT,
AND you had a full year (2 semesters) of geometry with no grade lower than
a “D” in one semester and no grade lower than a “D-“ in
the other semester,
- You don't have to take the math placement test in the Testing
Center and
- You can sign up for one of the following college level
math courses: MAT 120, MAT 150, MAT 161, MAT 165, or MAT 201 (see
an academic advisor to determine appropriate class)
- Because you scored a 28 or better on the Math portion of the ACT, AND you had a full year (2 semesters) of geometry
with no grade lower than a “D” in one semester and
no grade lower than a “D-“ in the other semester,
AND you had a high school or college trigonometry course with
a “C” or
better,
- You don't have to take the math placement test in the Testing Center and
- You can go right into MAT 175
- Because you scored a 28 or better on the Math portion of the ACT,
AND you had a full year (two semesters) of geometry with no grade
lower than a “D” in
one semester and no grade lower than a “D-” in
the other semester,
- You don't have to take the math placement test in the Testing Center
- You can go right into MAT 170, MAT 171 or MAT 220 (see
an academic advisor to determine appropriate class)
- Because you took a math course or English course at another institution,
you may not have to take a placement test, but you must see an academic
advisor to determine this issue
