Laurie Riggin

Laurie Riggin joined the MCC art faculty in 2008 as an adjunct instructor of Art History, Non-Western Art, and Art Appreciation. Laurie attended Dominican University in River Forest where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Renaissance Art History and Italian Studies. She completed her Master of Arts degree in Art History at Northern Illinois University. Her graduate work focused on Italian Renaissance culture and gender issues, particularly how the female artist asserted a professional authority in a society that undermined women’s worth. Laurie is passionate about teaching and strives to encourage her students in their understanding and appreciation of art.

Her professional experience also extends to the graphic arts, including former employment as an art director and graphic designer.

Laurie is fluent in Italian and has traveled extensively throughout Italy. She also enjoys running, paddleboarding, metalsmithing, and reading.
