Mark Arctander

Mark Arctander teaches painting, drawing, 3D design and sculpture. Mark has been a full-time instructor at MCC since 2002. He holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art from Northern Illinois University.

Mr. Arctander has been in over one hundred exhibitions at museums, galleries, and universities since 1983. These range from one-person shows in Chicago to group shows in New York. Mark's work has been shown both nationally and internationally.

Mark won a $7,000 "Illinois Arts Council Fellowship Award" in 2001. These are competitive awards given to artists to help in the creation of their personal work. In 2002 he was the subject of a PBS Television segment on "Arts Across Illinois."

Mr. Arctander has work in many corporate, university, college, and personal collections across the country.

Mark is devoted to teaching McHenry County College's many talented art students. He thrives on helping his students be the best artists they can be – whether they are transferring to a four-year university or taking courses to enrich their personal lives.
