Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Training

The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 lays the groundwork for a national workforce preparation and employment system, which is designed to

"consolidate, coordinate, and improve employment, training, literacy, and vocational rehabilitation programs in the United States..."

The Act requires that these training and employment programs be delivered through one-stop career centers, which provide easy access for customers at a single location. In Illinois, these centers are known as Illinois Employment and Training Centers (IETC).

Once you attend orientation at the Illinois Employment Training Center in Woodstock, make an appointment to meet with the WIA Liaison at MCC.

The WIA Liaison will have you complete an application for admissions, finish an online orientation session and schedule Math and English placement tests.
Then, make an appointment with an academic advisor to complete an Academic Plan.
Take your academic plan to your IETC case manager to obtain an Individual Training Agreement to register for courses.
Register at MCC.
Meet with the MCC WIA Liaison to finalize the process.
