The Trips and Tours Program is a non-membership based program and is open to everyone in and around the community.

Join McHenry County College for great destinations. MCC provides cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities via day tours and extended trips.

Note: There is no senior citizen discount given for trips and tours and no refunds on single day trips.

Sanfilippo Estate

Sanfilippo Estate, Barrington HillS

The Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington Hills, Illinois is the private home of Jasper and Marian Sanfilippo, and home to the finest collection of Automatic Music Instruments and other antiques from the turn-of-the-century, including the World’s largest theater organ (5-manual,  80 rank Wurlitzer with over 8,000 pipes), Art Glass and Lamps, gambling and arcade games, artifacts from many Midwest movie palaces, and the World’s most complete example of a European Salon Carousel, the Eden Palais, built in 1890 and completely restored. The 3-hour, Docent-Guided Tour is filled with great music, mechanical and family history and marvels of the industrial revolution. After the tour, lunch is on your own at the Arboretum of South Barrington followed by a visit to Fisher Chicago’s Home Town Nut store.

Drake Hotel

Chicago's Grand Hotels

Chicago has many grand and glorious hotels, with stunning lobbies, glittering chandeliers and amazing art.  Spend the day visiting three of Chicago’s most historic hotels and see their magnificent lobbies.  Tour the Blackstone and Drake Hotel, historic hotels that have been part of Chicago’s history for decades. The Blackstone Hotel, recently renovated, has been the favorite of movie stars, sports legends, royalty and presidents since 1910.  The Blackstone Art Collection is a museum-quality  collection of over 1400 objects. The Drake Hotel, a fixture on Michigan Avenue since 1920, is on the National Register of Historic Places.  It has attracted many world leaders, including Princess Diana and Prince Charles, Pope John Paul II and was featured in the movie “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”  At the Palmer House, a gift from Potter Palmer to his bride Bertha, see the magnificent lobby, which combines modern elegance with old world charm.  A delicious lunch is included at Lockwood in the historic Palmer House.

Million Dollar Quartet - Apollo Theatre

See the award-winning  musical “Million  Dollar Quartet”. This show recalls the only historic night that Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis all sang together at Sun Studios in Memphis. Enjoy delicious French specialties for lunch (included) at a lovely French Bistro in Chicago’s Old Town.  Register early – seats are limited.

You will learn about the Amish-Mennonite story while touring the Menno-Hof Interpretive Center. Bring your appetite and good walking shoes and discover a culture that is right in your own backyard.
