Special Needs Program

Mission: To promote equal access to post-secondary education for students with disabilities and other special needs and to promote understanding and acceptance within the college community.

Scholarships available for Fall 2008. Application deadline is April 15.

Who is eligible for support services through Special Needs?

Students who have a documented learning, physical, psychological disability, or other barriers to learning are eligible. Some students in occupational programs who have limited English proficiency or are academically disadvantaged may also qualify for accommodations.

What support services are available to eligible students?

We offer the following:

• Test Readers
• Classroom Aide
• Note Takers
• Private Testing
• Sign Language Interpreter
• Extended Testing Time
• Alternative Textbook Formats
• Assistive Equipment and Technology

Does Special Needs work with other resources?

The success of our program depends on close working relationships with the high schools; with agencies such as DRS, Pioneer Center, and SEDOM; and with other offices at MCC, including:

• Counseling
• Career Services
• Advising and Transfer Center
• Sage Learning Center
• Financial Aid
• Athletics and Student Activities
