Can I still go to college if I have not completed high school? Are there GED classes?
Taking classes at MCC does not require a high school diploma; however, licensing for certain programs requires high school completion. No cost GED classes are offered each semester. Call (815) 455-8752 for times and dates. Learn more about GED classes.
I need to change careers, is there help available?
MCC Career Services, A260, offers practical job-related assistance. Counseling and advising are knowledgeable about career requirements, and MCC offers Career-Decision Making workshops four times each spring and fall.
What programs don't take a long time to complete?
Some programs, such as Basic Nursing Assistant, CNA and Real Estate Sale, require only one class to test for the license. EMT-Basic requires two classes. Other programs vary in length.
Is tutoring help available in case I need it?

Does MCC have many older students? Are there certain times more adult students will be in classes?
The average age of students at MCC is 27 years. Non-traditional students can be found in class any time of day or night, but they are most likely to take advantage of evening, Saturday, or online/telecourse classes.
Must I take classes in a classroom? Can I take classes from home?
More and more distance education classes are offered each semester. It is possible to achieve an associates degree using only online and telecourses.
How long will it take me to complete a certificate or a degree?
The time to complete a degree depends, for the most part, on how many classes a person can successfully take each semester and the total number of classes in the certificate or degree. Persistence and determination are more important than speed. Not surprisingly, even at the pace of one class per semester, many students happily finish their programs.
How can I complete a bachelors degree close to home?
MCC classes and degrees successfully transfer locally to programs, such as psychology, criminal justice, computer information, and business. Several universities have satellite campuses in Crystal Lake ore in the surrounding area.
