New Student Orientation

You will receive information about the college, select courses and register at New Student Orientation.

While all students are welcome to attend, orientation is required for the following:

  1. Full Time Students (12 or more credits)
  2. Part Time Students who are seeking a degree or certificate

The session is three and a half hours long so plan accordingly.

A separate Parent Orientation is also available. Check for the next Parent Orientation.

When is Orientation?

You will receive a postcard with your date and more information prior to your orientation date. If you need to change your orientation date, you can review the New Student Orientation Sessions Schedule here.

What do I need to do before Orientation?

IMPORTANT: If you arrive at Orientation and we do not have your ACT scores or placement test scores, you will not be able to select your courses or register. You will be asked to reschedule your orientation session.

Online Orientation

If you are unable to attend the entire on-campus orientation, a two-part orientation is available. The first part is an information session and quiz which students complete online. The second part is an on-campus advising session. During the advising session, you will meet with an advisor to select and register for courses. There will be no repeat of information presented online so be prepared to select your courses.

Plan an hour for the online part of orientation and two hours for the on-campus advising session. Once you have finished your online orientation and quiz:

  1. Print the last page of the quiz, sign it and bring it with you to your on-campus advising session.
  2. Call (815) 479-7712 to schedule your on-campus advising session
