ADN Program Preadmission Testing Guidelines
The preadmission test is the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS®). No other nursing preadmission exam scores will be considered.
Preadmission Test Registration
- You must have a MCC student ID number to register
for preadmission testing. If you have never attended MCC as a credit
student, submit a MCC New Student Enrollment Form and $15.00 fee online at www.illinoismentor.org/applications/McHenry_County_College/apply.html or
at the Registration Office (A258).
- Once you apply and have your student ID number, register at the ATI website
to get your TEAS® testing ID number.
- Once you have both IDs, pay your $25.00 non-refundable testing fee in Registration (A258). You will receive a receipt.
- Take the receipt, the MCC student ID number and the TEAS® ID number to the
Testing Center (A245) to register for testing. You will be receiving additional
instructions when you schedule your appointment in the Testing Center.
- If you have a documented disability and are eligible for testing accommodations, please contact the Testing Center, (815) 455-8984, at least two weeks prior to your testing date.
- Please do not call the Testing Center for an appointment. The TEAS® is administered
in large groups on the following dates:
- January 19, 2008 from 7:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
- January 25, 2008 from 12:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.
- January 26, 2008 from 7:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
On the Day of the Test
Bring a current, signed government-issued photo ID to testing. The only acceptable IDs are:
- passport
- military ID
- government or state ID card
- driver’s license
- alien residency (green) card
If you don’t have one of these, you can obtain one at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Late arrivals will not be allowed to take the exam and will not receive a refund of the $25 fee.
About the TEAS®
- The TEAS® was developed to measure basic essential skills in reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage.
- The TEAS® is a 170-item, four-option, multiple-choice assessment.
- Three hours and twenty-nine minutes are allotted for the actual testing.
- It is administered in a paper and pencil format.
- To do well on the TEAS®, you should have completed most of the supportive courses, especially the science courses, prior to testing.
- Study guides are available in the bookstore. The study guide and online practice tests may also be purchased online at www.atitesting.com/onlinestore. They are not available at any library.
