McHenry County College student Shannon Shefcik, who also is a graduating senior Marengo Community High School, is the local winner of the Illinois Community College Trustee Association's Paul Simon Student Essay Contest. She was selected out of 21 essays to represent MCC in the statewide contest.

MCC Children's Learning Center Announces Preschool Openings For Fall 2013 |

The preschool program at McHenry County College Children's Learning Center is accepting registration for fall 2013. Openings currently exist for the three-year-old class from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and the four-year-old class from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. In addition, the five-year-old afternoon class runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Check out the new, lower rates today.

Working adult finds time to earn degree, earn top award in honor society |

Meet MCC student and dad Joe Bilodeau of Woodstock, who will graduate this May with an Associate in Applied Science degree in manufacturing management through MCC's Fast Track program. A member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society, he was one of only 30 students to win a prestigious Distinguished Chapter Officer Award from more than 1,300 chapters internationally.

Crystal Lake South, Alden-Hebron Champions in MCC's 11th Annual High School Accounting Bowl |

More than 150 high school accounting schools students flexed their mental muscle as they tested their numerical competence and problem-solving skills at McHenry County College's 11th annual High School Accounting Bowl on April 26. Eight county high schools participated in the event, which was divided into two levels, Accounting 1, geared for first-year accounting students and Accounting 2, for those completing two years of high school accounting.
