Wednesday, February 19, 2014 Friends of MCC Foundation Awarded $30,000 Grant for Adult Education Programming

The Friends of McHenry County College Foundation recently received a $30,000 grant through Chicago Tribune Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund, to benefit the MCC Adult Education Department. Through this funding, MCC will enhance adult education services by purchasing 20 laptop computers and a wireless cart for a mobile computer lab. Additional software will allow students to build career readiness skills, explore career interests, and practice resume writing.

The Friends of MCC Foundation has announced the availability of a new $500 scholarship especially for veterans who attend McHenry County College. The Woodstock Harley-Davidson Veterans Book Scholarship is the result of a generous donation by Woodstock Harley-Davidson, specifically for a veteran of the U.S. Military, former or active member of the Reserves, Coast Guard or National Guard.

Monday, February 17, 2014 McHenry County College to Present "Cabaret" in New Black Box Theatre

McHenry County College will present "Cabaret" as the inaugural production in the new Black Box Theatre. The production will open on Thursday, March 6 and continue March 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22. All performances begin at 7 p.m., except for the 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, March 16. Tickets are $10 for students, faculty/staff, seniors and alumni and $15 for general public. The Black Box Theatre's is newly located in the first floor corridor between Building D and Building E on MCC's main campus in Crystal Lake.

In Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play, the McHenry County College (MCC) Scots men's basketball team broke the seven game Prairie State College Pioneers winning streak with an 86-73 win, at home in Crystal Lake. The win was the second on the season in ISCC play for MCC.
