On the first day of registration for the Spring 2010 semester, McHenry County College experienced record demand. By 6:30 p.m., 2,650 students had already registered for the Spring semester, representing more than one-third of currently enrolled students.

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 SHAH CENTER OFFERS OSHA 10-HR COURSE FOR CONSTRUCTION

McHenry County College Shah Center will offer OSHA 10-Hr for Construction training rom 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. November 2 and November 4. This course covers regulations covered by Standard 29 CFR 1926 in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA). The successful completion of this course will assist firms in meeting the Construction Industry Standards established by OSHA. Upon completion, attendees will receive a certificate of completion, plus the official wallet card issued by OSHA. Course fee is $159.

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 MCC SHAH CENTER NOW A CERTIPORT TEST SITE

McHenry County College Shah Center is now an official Certiport Testing Center. Certiport offers individuals the opportunity to obtain marketable credentials in business applications from Microsoft® and Adobe®. Certiport certifications are globally recognized, professional credentials. The Shah Center also offers training courses designed to prepare participants for certification testing.

Monday, October 26, 2009 MICROSOFT EXPRESSION WEB NEW AT MCC SHAH CENTER

McHenry County College Shah Center now provides training in the Microsoft Expression Web application. The upcoming course is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4 and Thursday, November 5. Microsoft Expression Web makes it possible for the beginner to create visually pleasing standards-based web sites. This course is ideal for those who wish to design, create and publish their own web site. Microsoft Expressions Web puts professional web design tools within reach of every business and organization. Course fee is $155.

McHenry County College will host its 25th Annual Craft Fair from 10-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 25 in the Commons Area in Building B at MCC, located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14, Crystal Lake. The event will feature homemade items from more than 100 crafters. Admission is $2 per person, which enters each attendee into a prize drawing.

Make your in-house training programs more effective with Training Within Industry (TWI), an eight-session "train-the-trainer" series offered by McHenry County College Shah Center. The next session is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. beginning October 27 through December 15. This program will provide individuals designated as internal trainers in industry the materials, methodology, and processes needed to create more effective and efficient training programs. Thursday, October 08, 2009 MCC TO HOST CDL TRAINING OPEN HOUSE

McHenry County College will hold an Open House with Eagle Training Services, Inc. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 17 in the campus parking lot at the corner of Route 14 and Lucas Road. Explore our four-week training program toward the start of a new profession. Those interested in training to become truck drivers will receive information about a Secretary of State certified CDL training program with four-week classes offered every month. Recruiters will be on site to recruit potential drivers and radio station Star 105.5 will broadcast live from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Second Sunday Concert Series at McHenry County College begins its 2009-2010 season at 3 p.m. on October 11 featuring Chicago Brass Band Players. The concert will be held in the MCC Conference Center, 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14, Crystal Lake. 2003, 2005 and 2006 at the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) and was runner-up in 2004. This concert is free and open to the public. A reception with light refreshments will follow.

In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, all are welcome to Join McHenry County College and the 22nd Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Council at a Candlelight Vigil at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 14 on the Woodstock Square in downtown Woodstock. The vigil will be held in rain or shine. Anyone is welcome to show their support of Domestic Violence Awareness efforts in McHenry County. The purpose of the event is to remember those who have been hurt by domestic abuse, including survivors and family members and call attention to the devastation that domestic abuse can cause individuals, their families, and friends. This event will feature entertainment by Just Duet and Julie Gibson.
