MCC to Celebrate 50 Years of Changing Lives in Community with Anniversary Gala[Thursday, November 2, 2017]
For the past 50 years, McHenry County College (MCC) has been providing robust educational opportunities and changing lives for students and community members of all ages. For some, the journey may begin in grade school with Kids in College or sport camp programs or it may begin during or after high school with college courses, student organizations, or athletics. Perhaps, it might start further down the road in MCC’s Retired Adult Program.
Success stories abound each year with distinguished alumni finding their niche and giving back to the community. To celebrate the college’s rich history and solid commitment to the community for the past half-century, McHenry County College and the Friends of McHenry County College Foundation are hosting a 50th Anniversary Gala: Moonlight Masquerade at 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Starline Factory in Harvard.
The black tie-optional event will feature a dazzling celebration of higher education in McHenry County and will include a formal dinner, entertainment, student and community artwork, live and silent auctions and up-close and personal interactions with MCC students and alumni. Proceeds from this special event will benefit the college’s mission and expand scholarships for future MCC students.
“This is a monumental year for McHenry County College,” said Christina Haggerty, vice president of Marketing, Communications, and Development. “Our gala, Moonlight Masquerade, will both culminate a year-long celebration to honor 50 years of student success in McHenry County, and it will provide an opportunity to continue growing support for our students. While funding for community colleges has decreased, our students’ need for financial assistance and innovative programming remains. Every dollar raised at the gala will make a difference, and will help transform the lives of future students.”
Dress is cocktail or business attire (black tie optional); and masks are admired, but not required. Tickets are $150 each or $1,500 for a table of 10 seats.
