Registration Underway for ScotStars Youth Sports Camps[Monday, April 17, 2017]
The McHenry County College Athletic Department is offering ScotStars youth sports camps for students in grades third through high school featuring three- or four-day camps for baseball, volleyball, basketball and softball. The college’s coaching staff leads many of the camps.
“We take pride in teaching the basic fundamentals, meet campers at their ability level and challenge campers to greater heights,” said Jared Wacker, head coach of MCC’s nationally-ranked baseball team. “We also strive to ensure that every camper learns something new and has fun.”
MCC offers a three-day Baseball Hitting and Offensive Camp. The camp is for boys entering grades 4-8 and takes place from 9-10:45 a.m. June 12-14. (Rain date June 15). Cost is $45.
Three Volleyball All Skills Camps for boys and girls in grades 3-5, girls grades 6-8 and 9-12 will cover the basics, including passing, setting, digging, attacking, blocking and serving. Each day offers game simulation with the final day of camp being game day. Camp takes place June 19-22 at the following times: 8:30-10:30 a.m. for girls entering grades 9-12; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for girls entering 6-8 and 1:30-3 p.m. for boys and girls. Cost is $65 for girls grades 6-12 and $45 for boys/girls grades 3-5.
MCC offers two Basketball Fundamentals Camps from June 12-15, designed to give campers a chance to improve fundamental skills in ball handling, passing, shooting and defense. Camp takes place from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. for boys and girls entering grades 6-8 (cost is $55) and 1-2:30 p.m. for boys and girls entering grades 3-5 (cost is $45).
Two Softball All Skills Camps from June 26-29 provide instruction necessary to develop a student athlete’s overall game. Hitting, infield defense, outfield defense, and pitching will be included throughout the week. Camp takes place from 9-11:30 a.m. for girls entering grades 6-8 and from 1-3:30 p.m. for girls entering grades 9-12. Cost is $75 for each camp.
