Children and teens can explore the world of engineering with McHenry County College's Tech Camp program from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 16-19 at McHenry County College. Featured classes are Building Super Structures and Built to Tilt: Engineering the Unusual.

The following classes are accepting registration:

Building Super Structures: Modeled after the PBS series "Building Big," MCC Tech junior engineers (grades first through fourth) are challenged to design the tallest, longest and strongest structures that will stand up under extreme physical forces and even natural disasters. Structures will be showcased on the last day of camp. Parents can register children entering grades 1 and 2 using course ID: NKC S40 001 and for grades 3 and 4, using course ID: NKC S40 002.

Built to Tilt: Engineering the Unusual: Campers are challenged to figure out how a tower can be built to lean a world record of 18 degrees or how an entire office can be built in the shape of a basket and then engineer their own design to defy the laws of physics and make their craziest idea a reality. Unusual engineering projects will be showcased on the last day of camp. Parents can register children entering grades 5 and 6 using course ID: NKC S41 001 or for children entering grades 7 through 9 using course ID: NKC S41 002.

Each MCC Tech Camp is $159 for the four-day session. A Before and After Care program is available from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and/or 3 to 5:30 p.m. for an additional fee.

To register, call the MCC Registration Office at (815) 455-8588 or fax the registration form with credit card information to (815) 455-3766 between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. In-person registration is also available in Room A258. For information, contact Laura Beaupre at or (815) 455-8597.
