Jedd Johnson, strength coach and grip sport competitor
McHenry County College (MCC) will host the 2014 Midwest Strength and Conditioning Clinic from 8 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Saturday, March 15 in the Luecht Conference Center at MCC, located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake.
Keynote speaker will be Jedd Johnson, a strength coach and host of the successful strength and conditioning website DieselCrew.com. He will present "Incorporating Strongman Feats of Strength into a Training Program." Johnson's company, Diesel Crew, includes a gym called Diesel Gym in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania. Johnson has set multiple records in Grip Sport competition and has attained various certifications, including Captain of Crush, Mash Monster Level 2, Red Nail certified, and has been a three-time North American Grip Champion. He has written several e-books and produced DVDs covering nail bending, phone book ripping, card tearing, horseshoe bending, Strongman training, Strongman feats, and more.
The clinic will feature workshops on practical nutrition advice, high school football strength and conditioning, collegiate soccer training, active older adults, grip strength, assessment of athletes, and more. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. Continuing education credits are available from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, American Council on Exercise, and Illinois Physical Therapy Association.
Cost is $99 per person; $49 for high school and college students through March 7. After March 7, cost is $119 and $59. Lunch is included in the fee.
